I posted a separate job for this same project and am still going through the applicants to that. Because many developers who applied to the previous job were not a good fit, I wanted to post a new one to be a little more clear on what specific skills, experience, and--maybe most important--personalities I am looking for. This project is in the candidate screening stage at this point--don't expect to start immediately. If you applied to the previous project, there is no need to re-apply, I will contact you. First off, people who should not apply: Agencies, anyone who does not represent themselves, people who would not be open to long term work, people who require full time work immediately, pushy people, bad programmers, and ESPECIALLY people who don't know how to program at all. andnbsp; andnbsp; Also, people with poor English skills (I don't have anything against non-english speakers, but let's be real, it helps if everyone's talking the same language) The project is a long term project for a business intelligence product. I 'd be happy to tell you all about it later, but this is pretty neat and could be a great fit for the right people. If you come onto the project, you will be treated as an integral part of the team (because you will be an integral part of the team) and I am willing to be open with you about whatever you want to know. andnbsp; andnbsp; I am not looking for " just another contractor ", I am looking for true professionals who would like to be part of a growing and fast moving project with high upside potential. andnbsp; andnbsp; That being said, I am not looking to build a crappy product, so I expect a lot. I also think there's an exponential difference between a good developer and a great developer.... good simply isn't good enough for what I am doing and only great people will last. andnbsp; andnbsp; Yet at the same time, I don't expect magic, I think my expectations are high but fair. You would be coming into an ongoing project and expected to produce results quickly. andnbsp; andnbsp; If you are good at what you do, we are easy to work with. andnbsp; andnbsp; If you suck... well... not so much, and we can be pretty mean if you misrepresent yourself as a great programmer when you are actually terrible and simply wasted our time... so fair warning. We use fogbugz for project management and bug tracking. andnbsp; andnbsp; this is ok if you haven't used this before, but we manage everything through that, and only use skype or e-mail when necessary (IE meta topics, general stuff). andnbsp; andnbsp; Contributing good notes to fogbugz is appreciated. We are really big on efficiency and are looking for a person similar. Efficiency is a competitive advantage and we try to make it one of ours. We use git for version control. You need to know how to use git. andnbsp; andnbsp; You must know how to use git from the command line, the GUIs all suck and if you can't work a CLI app, that's a problem. Again, organization and simplicity are extremely important here. andnbsp; andnbsp; Each fogbugz case gets its own branch on git, when the case is closed, the changes are reviewed and merged into master branch. andnbsp; andnbsp; If you are not comfortable in an environment like that, we won't get along. I don't expect you to have all these skills, but you should have several of them: 1) You need to be *deeply* knowledgeable about Flex and Flash. andnbsp; andnbsp; This includes working heavily with AS3 as well as MXML, understanding spark skinning, being extremely familiar with extending datagrids, creating item renderers, and so on. and so on. andnbsp; andnbsp; All the stuff that's kind of complex to do in flex is stuff we are doing. andnbsp; andnbsp; Good design taste and an understanding of usability is pretty important. andnbsp; andnbsp; Also, charting and any experience w/Stage3d is great. 2) We are also looking for a person that knows Python, and has some experience with Django or similar frameworks. andnbsp; andnbsp; If you have experience with Nginx (versus Apache) and non-blocking python libraries such as twisted or tornado, even better. 3) From a machine learning standpoint, if you know anything about neural networks that's a big plus. andnbsp; andnbsp; If you know about deep learning, how to use Theano, and recent advances in Hessian Free optimization methods, particularly as they apply to recurrent neural networks, even better. andnbsp; andnbsp; Hell, if you are interested in the field in general, I 'd love to talk shop with you. 4) You should be familiar w/Amazon web services (not much to be familiar with, just virtual servers, pay as you go, and a set of extra services), and would be great if you have used something like SQLAlchemy5) You should be familiar with linux/unix. 6) If you have used Salesforce. com's web services API I would be amazed and excited. andnbsp; andnbsp; Not necessary though, this is easy. I am not looking for PHP guys,. net guys, java Hibernate/Spring guys, and so on. That's not what I need for this project. That was a long description, so if you are still here and think you might be a good fit, I 'd love to talk to you. And for the record, I am really easy to work with, I just need to be up front about what I am expecting from people.
