Web based Game Engine Specification - expected cost $15,000 + (to be agreed) We have a range of board game style business simulations which we want to convert to online, trainer led exercises in a 2-D game environment. Rather than programme each individually, we want to create a game building and deployment system which will enable us to build and test the first game, and easily create variants with different graphics, text labels, rules, or all three. The challenge is to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with limited features, for as little cost as possible so that we can get user feedatabaseack on it, and start earning revenues, before incurring the full development cost (and the risk clients wonandrsquo; t want to buy it). The MVP must however be built with the right basic architecture so that the full product can be built up from it with the minimum of re-work and waste. The game will be a SaaS style client- server application with the option to run multiple instances of the same game, and to create and host multiple variants on the game, each running concurrently. One game will typically involve 10-40 players, each forming part of 5-10 teams. The client side, all admin access, and control of the games will be through browsers. The player browsers should provide maximum protection against competitors hacking the game structure. Client side code should be obfuscated. The necessary connection should be encrypted. andnbsp; andnbsp; Users must be able to access the programme through PCs, iPads and Android tablets. The system must allow for all major languages (including European, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic) to be used, through internationalisation and localisation using i18n standards, supported through. ini or. json files or similar language dictionary files. 2 languages must be proven to be implemented. User actions, failure notices, and resulting game states must all be logged in the game engine, so that if a game fails it can be debugged in detail, and so that any player losing their connection can log back in without difficulty. Ajax should be used to sync client and server information in both directions. Ruby on Rails using a Model-View-Controller approach seems the likely best way of keeping the App modular and extensible. Model-client will keep track of client-offline data andndash; possibly store this in localObject HTML datastore or browser-local SQLite database. Model-server would keep track of game states, users, admins and everything related to the game environment. The View - although generated by the server-side technologies, is run exclusively in the browser and would consist of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The Controller-client would be any JavaScript code that handles the logic or directs the game or game elements, whereas the Controller-server would be server side code directing the flow of the application, handling business logic and flow of the application. The Controller-server in this case would handle authentication, flow and be partly responsible for generating the Views sent to the browser (including the actual Controller-client andndash; that will be wrapped in as part of the view). Database technologies that will be utilized as the datastore element of the Model could include anything from PostgreSQL, MySQL to NoSQL technologies. PostgreSQL could contain code based triggers in various languages. Server-side Java would not necessarily be toxic to the goals of the project, as long as the View stays clean of Java and requires no plugins. We need to be able to test the effects of user behaviours, so we would like to use Behaviour Driven Development as the methodology for creating this product. A more detailed spec and a visual sample are available on application.
